Selkie
18 x 24 in. Acrylic on a wooden panel. 2021.
For Sale (Local to Seattle): $350
A seductive and cheerful moment for a selkie, coming and going as she pleases. Her fur pelt hangs beside her, though she accidentally brought in some of the ocean and kelp with her. She's free to come and go, myths be damned.
Selkies are people who transform into seals, living mostly in the ocean and coming to rest and bathe on the surface as seals do. Selkies of both genders are supposed to be quite seductive. Traditionally, taking the pelt of a selkie while they are onshore binds both the thief and the selkie to a connection--matrimony or otherwise--by keeping the pelt hidden away. Many selkie wives were taken as human brides, sometimes with children, but they always return to the sea when they find their skins. They will sometimes visit their human families as seals.

Cloud Magic (sold)
2020. acrylic on a wooden panel. 18 x 24 in.
This portrait of my friend, Emilia, gives the viewer a sense of mystery and illusions. The clouds and fairy lights that surround her only highlight the magic within. Clouds in my portraits are a manifestation of the subject's energy. The color palette is reminiscent of aura crystals.
